A day in the snow

Snow in the woods on a mountain puts my head in the right place.  I was excited the D-Cup downhill race series planned to run Jacobs Ladder and best of all the race was to run regardless of conditions.  The day before and day of the race, 5+ inches of snow fell and blanketed everything with a beautiful covering of soft snow.  I headed out to FS 708 to park and climb the trail.  I found my camera locations (video and stills), setup and waited for First Rider Through (FRT).  No one came and after 40 min of laying camouflaged in the snow, I decided to get up, take pictures of the snow and stream and head out.  I found out later that only two racers (Josh and Fred) showed up Sunday and they took Old Farm on the other side of the mountain.  No race photos in 5 inches of snow on a tight, steep trail... bummer!

Since Sunday was a bust for race photos, I asked Fred if we could go out during the week while there was still snow on the trails.  Tuesday was the plan...

The stage was set: on the mountain, in the woods with snow and a bike.  I'm very happy now.
