BRG closed down Snowshoe 2012

Blue Ridge Gravity was up at Snowshoe for closing weekend (Oct. 6 and 7).

The weekend was a bit messy with rain and eventually snow on Sunday but a good time!

Cheers!

Light's not great but sweet photo

Snow at the end of a wet weekend - Great time!

Montgomery Co. Bike skills clinic by BRG

Blue Ridge Gravity ran a basic skills clinic for the Montgomery Co. Parks and Rec.  We had a good turnout and it was great to see everyone get better as the class progressed.  There were a few falls but overall the students improved and became more and more confident.

We had young and older students alike.  They all had a good time.  I was there to support the team and document the class.  I really enjoyed watching Sean, Fred, Josh and Gabe teaching.

When the class made it to the woods they took things slow.  Fred said, "going back to basics makes me think about every detail." [sic].  I felt the same way.  I normally must be quick to find the best position, get into position and take shots with little time to get the focus set and light adjustments made.  Photographing this class allowed me time to sit back and take more care to set aperture, shutter speed, white balance, etc. but I got another trip up on the light in the woods.  Normally there's plenty of natural light for races so a wide open aperture and fast shutter speed is appropriate but not in the woods at dusk with overcast sky.  I can't say these are perfect but not bad considering light and speed of subjects.  I have other photos I may post up since not all the riders are in this set.

Enjoy the photos.
Cheers!
